Big Bat and Josephine Pourier built a foundation of growth and selflessness, raising 12 children on the Pine Ridge Reservation. His mercantile store served as a cornerstone of progress and innovation there. As a part-time trapper, skilled interpreter, and loving father, Big Bat possessed a natural gift for growth and expanding his territory.
